#SignSaturdays Part 1 of 4

Our spring semester is underway, and we need you to be a part of it!

This week, all 4 of A.B.L.E.’s ensembles for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities will head back into the virtual rehearsal room to put their own spin on Shakespeare’s classic tale of love and hate - Romeo & Juliet. Our project Romeo & Juliet Remix will feature monologues, scenes, and movement pieces- some by Shakespeare and some devised and created by the actors. To tie the project together, all 4 ensembles are collaborating to learn the famous Prologue in America Sign Language (ASL)…and you can join us!

Every Saturday, we'll post a video teaching a few lines of the speech translated by Chicago-based theatre interpreter and ASL Master, Crom Saunders

Watch, learn, and practice alongside our ensembles. At the end of 4 weeks, we’ll have learned the whole speech. Send us a video performing the Prologue - maybe the whole speech, maybe just your favorite few lines. We will edit them together so that when we premiere #ABLEremix, the first thing we see onscreen will all of us - our whole community - together from our own homes and from our own corners of the world.
