Every year, volunteers give an average of 1400 hours of their time to support A.B.L.E.’s programs. There are a number of ways to share your skills with A.B.L.E. Read below to see some ideas, or contact us to see how you can get involved.

Facilitators

The most popular way to volunteer is to join our team as a Facilitator. Facilitators are an integral part of our ensemble. These volunteers participate side-by-side with A.B.L.E.'s actors with intellectual and developmental disabilities to ensure everyone has a productive, supportive, and fun rehearsal. No formal performance training or experience necessary.

Volunteers for this position must be 18 years or older. Click here to read our facilitator FAQ sheet.

We accept applications for facilitators twice a year. Our next round of applications will open in January 2025.

Board of Directors

A.B.L.E. - Artists Breaking Limits & Expectations is an ambitious organization at an exciting phase of expansion seeking committed, diverse, and experienced volunteer Board members to guide the organization and support its growth. Board members work collaboratively to shape policies and strategy for A.B.L.E.’s future, and provide direction and counsel for A.B.L.E. leadership.

At this time, we are particularly seeking board members with experience in the fields of:

  • Finance & Accounting

  • Human Resources

  • Disability Advocacy

Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis by the Governance Committee and may be submitted any time of year.

Development Committee

This team of volunteers is responsible for hosting fundraising events, soliciting donations, seeking sponsorship opportunities, and assisting with grant applications. We hope to connect A.B.L.E. with the community at large, raise our organizational profile, and raise funds to continue building our program and keep it affordable for participants.

Front of House

A.B.L.E.’s ensembles produce between 2 - 6 public performances and film screenings each season. Each of these events needs a minimum of 8 front of house volunteers to ensure a warm and welcoming experience for our audiences. In exchange, you’ll receive an ABLE t-shirt complimentary ticket for the show!

Applications for our spring productions will open in February/March 2025.

A.B.L.E. hosts between 4-6 public events every season ranging from our ensembles’ productions to fundraising events. Capturing professional, high quality images at these events is a crucial way to share our work with a wider audience.

Event Photography & Video

Whether it’s hanging up posters for a performance around your neighborhood, designing graphics for social media, or working an information booth at a community resource fair, there are lots of ways to help get the word out about A.B.L.E. and encourage people to support our work!
