Revisit the magic of the theater in this collection of some of our favorite productions from years past. Laugh, cry, and cheer along with our ensembles in a range of devised, classical productions and one of a kind feature films.

DEVISED PRODUCTIONS

Original shows inspired by the lives, experiences, and imaginations of our casts with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Many titles are available free of charge!


Classical Adaptations

A.B.L.E.’s ensembles reclaim canonical classics, and put their own spin on stories that have not traditionally been “for” people with disabilities. you can click on a video below to watch a preview scene. Feature Films

The magic of the movies - A.B.L.E. style! A.B.L.E.’s feature films have been recognized locally and internationally by the Chicago Onscreen Showcase, The Awareness Festival, and Berlin’s Courage Festival, among others. Each film was written especially for the cast based on monologues they created, and takes on a classic film genre. Play a game

A.B.L.E.'s teaching artists and volunteer facilitator have created a video series featuring some of our favorite theatre games and exercises, adapted to suit individuals of all abilities. You can play in person, and these work over Zoom or other video platforms too!

Mirroring

This game can be played by just 2 people, but also works for a larger group. It is a great way to work on eye contact, body language, leadership skills, and teamwork. Switch up who is leading, play with your speed and levels, and have fun!

Character CHarades

This game works with 2 or more people. It is a great way to develop nonverbal communication, emotional literacy, and physicalization. You can make up your own word bank, or click here to download some of our favorites.

What’s in the Bag?

This game can be played by just 2 people, but it's more fun with a group. It is a great way to work on imagination, miming skills, and spontaneity. It can be played seated or standing. We show you two different ways to play.
