We love introducing you to our team from A.B.L.E..! With the addition of our adult program, we’ve welcomed a several new faces this semester. Get to know our facilitator, Aaron on today’s blog!
NAME: Aaron Latterell
BIRTHDAY: September 29th
HOMETOWN: Keller, TX
WHY DID YOU START VOLUNTEERING WITH A.B.L.E.?
My younger brother has autism, and actually inspired me to do theatre! I’ve spent my whole life working with him and others, from classrooms to Special Olympics every year. When I moved to Chicago I felt that huge part of me missing, so I reached out!
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT WITH US?
I’m an actor myself! I also work in the beer industry when I’m not on stage.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE HOBBIES?
Rock climbing is big part of my daily routine. Brewing beer. And motorcycles!
DO YOU HAVE A HIDDEN TALENT?
I’ve been told that my scrambled eggs are second to none.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE PERFORMER? WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THEM?
That’s a tough one. I can watch Anthony Hopkins just read the newspaper, his command of language is incredible. Tilda Swinton has always amazed me too. She’s so captivating and malleable.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WON A MILLION DOLLARS?
Buy myself a treehouse, then give the rest to my parents. I owe them that much at least.
WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO DANCE PARTY SONG?
All things Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder! “Lovely Day” is a go-to.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE?
I’m an explorer! I love to explore new hobbies, new skills, new friendships. It’s all about the stories. I want to hear people’s stories and have a few great ones of my own to tell. I also travel to a new country every year, so I’m always taking suggestions!
