Take to the seas with A.B.L.E. as we present an original adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedic operetta, The Pirates of Penzance, for audiences this spring. The actors, 18 young adults with Down syndrome, will share their talents on Saturday, May 20 at 1pm at Victory Gardens Theater.
Filled with memorable tunes including “I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General,” The Pirates of Penzance brings the musical abilities and comedic timing of the A.B.L.E. Ensemble to the forefront. This production marks the first time that A.B.L.E. will produce an operetta, and the adaptation is tailored to the individual strengths of the ensemble. It features actors playing multiple roles, which offers everyone a chance to be in the spotlight.
