This spring, A.B.L.E. – Artists Breaking Limits & Expectations – is celebrating 10 years of creating theatre and film for, with, and by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We asked our community to share some of their favorite moments from the past decade, and their answers highlight the best of all that we do. Actor Matt spoke about claiming ownership over a beloved story with our adaptation of The Odyssey. Facilitator Erin recalled stretching herself out of her comfort zone performing in Frankenstein. Lucas talked about the pride of seeing himself on the big screen for the first time in The Curse of the Tempest Jewel. Anna fondly remembered sharing the stage with one of her best friends in Cyrano. We’ll continue sharing favorite memories from our actors, volunteers, and audiences on our social media channels all month!
Over the past decade, A.B.L.E. has established ourselves as a space for building confidence, trying new things, and above all, nurturing community and belonging.

Every year around this time, we call on our community to help raise funds to support the future of our programs, and this year it is more important than ever. Over the past two seasons, we have had to scale back some programs to deal with the loss of government funding, rising costs, and the uncertain financial landscape. With a leadership transition underway, explorations into a potential merger, and other big dreams, your contributions will make a huge difference to ensure ABLE can continue to provide quality, accessible opportunities for all the folks who have come to rely on our programs over the years. It will take all of us working together to ensure that A.B.L.E. can meet this moment. But just as we see in every rehearsal, we know a group of people working together can accomplish incredible things.
