A.B.L.E.’s 2026-2027 season is underway. Every year, our Program Advisory Council votes on a theme to anchor our work. This season, they have chosen the theme of TRANSFORMATION. This is a fitting theme as we are navigating a leadership change, and are starting a new chapter for the organization and our community.
This season will look a little different than previous A.B.L.E. seasons. Here’s what we have in store:
Workshops
Throughout the fall, A.B.L.E. will host a series of one-off workshops and short courses to explore new areas of stagecraft and performance. Actors can hone their craft and explore new exciting areas like makeup, stage combat, and songwriting without the pressure of creating a show. This will give our whole team the chance to grow as artists in a more relaxed environment.
Showcase Ensembles
A.B.L.E. will offer three showcase ensembles throughout the Season of Transformation – one virtual ensemble in the fall, and both an in-person and virtual option in the spring. These 6-week courses will end with an informal 30-minute sharing immediately following the final rehearsal.
Film Screenings
While there will not be as many live public performances, this season, we will host 3 different film screenings to bring audiences together and celebrate our work. One of these will be special screening to honor the 10th Anniversary of filming our award-winning The Spy Who Knew Me in October (date coming soon). The other two are up to you! Submit your vote for which A.B.L.E. projects you would most like to see on the big screen by August 1st.
Spring 2026 Performance Ensemble
In the spring, we will offer one 12-week performance ensemble, giving 10 veteran actors the chance to develop a full length play under the guidance of co-directors Perry Hunt and Ruby Gibson. Save the date to see what they create Friday May 28 and Saturday May 29 at The Edge Theater.
While this is less programming than folks might be used to from A.B.L.E., this lower programming lift will allow A.B.L.E.’s staff and board the time to engage in strategic planning conversations and reimagine how the organization can best make a positive impact on our community.
This season is about care and stewardship of our community, and ensuring that A.B.L.E. can operate with a stable foundation. And, first and foremost, it’s about having FUN! We hope you’ll join us for all the changes ahead.
